If the printer does this (as stated) - then (if your printing program is not setup up and running) go ahead and start your printer program and set to print on letter size paper then do the first (above) paper feed then stop with the paper in the resting position (1/2 inch of paper past the rollers). Now again press the paper feed button and the sheet should feed the paper out to the stacker. It should feed the paper in and the carriage should move to the left for one cycle - then return to the normal right side and the paper should feed in and stop with approximately 1/2 inch of the paper being past the small set of rollers. With the sheet in the feed unit, press the paper feed button ONE time (this of course is) the button next to the Power on Button.

Something to try as a test: Turn on the printer, place a normal blank sheet of letter size paper (with your printing software set for letter size) or you probably don't even need to have the printing program running for this part. Vernon, I finally got to clean the rollers etc. If all worked as planned you should have a perfectly cleared set of nozzle.ĭo a complete head alignment and you are all set to print. If not, run one cleaning cycle and them follow up with a nozzle check. The printer should perform a purge cycle. Remove the syringe, reinsert the cart and power up the printer. Repeat several times and then reinsert the cart. Slide the print head carriage left and right to wipe the under side of the head on the paper towel strip. Inject some Windex and let it sit for another hour. Make sure you have paper towel strip under the head as in the previous trick. One last hitch method which you can try at your own risk ( has worked great to unplug my s ) is to remove the cart of the color channel which is clogged and then take a syringe filled with Windex and with a piece of tubing that will tightly fit over the syringe tip as well as the ink stem of the print head, you can CAREFULLY try to inject some of the Windex directly through the ink stem.
Let that sit for several hours keeping the strip well wetted during the time period. Lay the strip along the path of the print head over the platen. Now slide the print head over so it is sitting right on top of the strip of PT. Make a three ply of paper toweling that is about 1.5" wide and wet well with Windex. Star up print and as soon as the head begins to move, pull the power plug. You may also want to soak the head over folded paper toweling wetted with Windex. Probably not till wednesday, but i'll report my results. It may be only the sensing of page start position after paper feed-in (for a lack of a better description) but it needs to "catch" the top of a page to work properly This will be easy to do and cost + time is Minimal. It may have issues with proper paper pickup (at beginning or top of page) and recycling the feeding causing it to not stop at the beginning of page sensing where it normally would start to print on the page - but is now continuing to feed the sheet without printing. Suggest before you give up on the "old work horse 2200" is to clean the feed input area (rollers) using normal Rubbing Alcohol with a soft clean cloth. I have Elements and Pixelmator on my MBA and they are doing most of what I need right now. I 've discovered wifi for letters and like it, so thought it might be time to upgrade.

I've downoalded drivers from Epson and reinstalled Epson software, but it's not better.

The printer is used with my old Power Mac G4 and CS2, my main software.
Vernon, the main problem is with paper feed spitting out blank sheets and then flash the 'out of paper' light rather than printing. Well a month has past and i still haven't done anything !! Several weeks of travel in there though.
